MINISTRY EXPERIENCE
Pastor For five years, he served in New Smyrna Beach, FL at the Coronado Baptist Church.
For over ten years, he served in Zephyrhills, FL at the First Baptist Church. Under his leadership, the church was in the top 1% of the nation in growth for ten years. In addition, over 1,400 people came to a saving knowledge of Jesus and followed Him in New Testament baptism.
For 30 years, he served the First Baptist Church of Leesburg, FL; which is now considered the model for the nation in Ministry Evangelism. The church was in the top 1% of the nation in evangelism and mission giving. In a town of 15,000 with over 90 churches, the church grew by transformation not transfer, baptizing over 7,000 people.
The church has over 70 separate ministries including a Men’s Rescue Mission, Women’s Care Center, Children’s Shelter, Benevolence Center, Furniture Barn, Food Pantry, Teen Shelter, Pregnancy Care Center, Medical Center, Counseling Center, First Academy (K-12th Grade), School of Fine Arts, First Academy, Preschool, Rape Crisis Center, Aides Clinic, Mentoring Program, Children-at-Risk Program, Mentally Challenged, People Helpers (Counseling), Signing Ministry, a Home Ministry sharing with over 400 home-bound persons each week, etc.

Recipient of a Doctor of Divinity Degree from University of the Cumberlands, November 26, 2007.
Recipient of the Southern Baptist Distinguished Service Ward for the Year 2000.
Served eight years on the Florida Baptist State Board of Missions; two years as the Chairman of Evangelism of Pasco Baptist Association; moderator of the Association; and one year on the Administrative Board.
Had a television ministry potentially reaching over 4,000,000 homes each week.
Coauthor of the book, Meeting Needs, Sharing Christ, which is part of the Life Series of the Discipleship Program.
In 1994, he was elected to serve on the Executive Board of the Southern Baptist Convention and served eight years.
Served as President of the Pastor’s Conference for 1982-83 for the Florida Baptist Convention.
In 1973, he was chosen as Florida’s Urban Pastor of the Year by Stetson University.
Leads in many conferences across the nation and in Canada including Church Growth Institutes, State Evangelism Conferences, National Evangelism Conferences, Ridgecrest, Glorietta, Lake Yale and Intentional Transitional Pastor Training for LifeWay. He teaches at several of our Southern Baptist seminaries.
He is now Pastor Emeritus at First Baptist Church, Leesburg and leads the Charles L. Roesel Ministry Training Center which is located on the FBC/Leesburg campus.
